For groundworks contractors

Quoting software built for groundworks

Drainage, paving or excavation — describe the job from the digger, and you get a quote with machine time and materials itemised.

01Sound familiar?

The quoting that steals time from the actual job

Machine time + man hours + spoil

Groundworks quotes mix the excavator, hand work, muck away and imported fill. Each part has its own pricing logic — and all of them have to be there for the costing to hold.

What you can’t see in the ground

Rock, old pipes, or clay where there should be gravel — groundworks throws up surprises. Clear conditions in the quote, and fast variations when reality differs, protect the margin.

ROT rules are trickiest for groundworks

Drainage against the house foundation qualifies for ROT — a new lawn does not. Judging it correctly and showing it clearly to the customer is both a trust question and a legal requirement.

02How it works

Describe the job — review the quote

You say or type

"Drainage around a house foundation, around 38 linear metres, excavation down to the underside of the footing, new drainage pipe, a surface water run to a soakaway, geotextile and macadam, backfill with the existing spoil where possible."

Under a minute later you have

  • Line items for excavation, drainage, surface water, materials and reinstatement
  • Machine time and labour hours itemised separately
  • A ROT assessment per line — the drainage qualifies, the imported fill does not

You always review and adjust the quote before it goes out — the AI suggests, you decide.

03ROT deduction

ROT is calculated automatically — and correctly

Groundworks qualify for ROT, the Swedish tax deduction on labour for home renovation, when they are carried out in direct connection with the home — drainage, surface water and service runs at the house. Landscaping, walls and paving further out on the plot normally do not qualify. Bliqat lets you control the ROT flag per line item so the assessment comes out right.

04FAQ

Common questions from groundworks contractors

Can I separate machine time from man hours?

Yes. An excavator with an operator and hand work go in as separate line items with different hourly rates — exactly how your costing works today.

How is ROT handled when only part of the job qualifies?

ROT is controlled per line item. The drainage at the foundation is flagged as qualifying, the paving on the patio is not — and the customer’s deduction is calculated correctly on the right parts.

What do I do when we hit rock?

Create a variation (ÄTA, the Swedish term for changes and additions) from the original quote straight from the cab — talk in what you have found and attach a photo. The customer approves digitally before you blast or break, documented and priced in line with the original quote.
